Three of us. All ex VIP cabin crew.

We know the galley, the diet card and the 5 a.m. re-plate — because we lived them. So we built the caterer we always wished we could call.

Private jet catering with local specialities from Kamembe

Kamembe runs on the lake and the hills. A private jet menu for Western Province starts from Lake Kivu tilapia, grilled whole in the kitchen and re-plated at altitude, and from Rwandan beef and goat brochettes, the national street food, cut and packed for the galley. Our local specialities also include isombe, cassava leaves stewed with aubergine and groundnut, which travels well and reheats in the oven without losing its green. For an inflight menu that feels placed, we add Rwandan coffee and highland tea in sealed pots.

Private jet food at Kamembe means eating where the Western Province eats: tilapia from Lake Kivu, brochettes of beef or goat, and isombe, the cassava-leaf stew every Rwandan table knows. Our private jet menu keeps the fish whole and chilled until re-plating, and the brochettes with their sauce in a separate pot. Local specialities from the Western Province, such as sweet potato, plantain and passion fruit, fill the rest of the inflight menu. Each dish is marked by seat number, ready for the drawer.

Corporate and VIP jet catering at Kamembe Airport (KME)

A typical Kamembe brief is a business jet with six or fewer guests, often a corporate trip to the Western Province or a charter flight catering request for a lakeside stay. Business jet catering and corporate jet catering here lean on grilled tilapia and brochettes, packed so the oven does the final step. A private jet chef writes a bespoke menu for VIP flight catering and luxury inflight catering to match the cabin, with local Rwandan produce at the centre.

Special meals & dietary requirements: in-flight catering at Kamembe Airport

Dietary requests at Kamembe are handled as a procedure built around Rwandan cooking, where groundnut and fish turn up in more dishes than you expect. Kosher, halal, vegan, gluten free, allergen free and kids meals each get their own board and box, marked by seat number, with special meals confirmed on the order.

Crew meal boxes and crew meals at Kamembe Airport

Crew meals at Kamembe are ordered with the flight and invoiced like the rest of the order, never added without a request. Flight crew meals, pilot meals and crew catering for the rotation come labelled CREW, and cockpit meals are packed to be eaten with one hand. Crew meal boxes hold a grilled fish or brochette plate with a side, and different meals for pilots are packed separately on request.

Airport catering at the FBO or general aviation terminal, Kamembe Airport

FBO catering at Kamembe is handed over where your aircraft stops. We coordinate catering delivery to the FBO with your handling agent, who controls airside access at the general aviation terminal. Ground handling catering and handling agent catering follow the slot you give us.

Aircraft provisioning and airport catering at Kamembe Airport (HRZA)

Here on the Kivu hillside, what you fly decides how the galley is loaded. A light jet takes its galley catering by hand through the cabin door, while a larger cabin may need a high loader at the stairs, and the handling agent confirms it on the slot. Our airside catering delivery follows the galley you actually have, and aircraft provisioning is packed by drawer and by seat.

About the airportHRZA / KME

About Kamembe Airport (KME): airport catering for business aviation

Kamembe is a regional airport serving Rwanda's Western Province, with a runway on the edge of Lake Kivu. Airport catering here supports a trickle of business and charter flights in a quiet general aviation setting, where FBO services and ground handling services stay light and personal.

Business aviation

Business aviation hub it is not, but Kamembe sees steady private traffic toward Lake Kivu and the national parks. Inflight catering, in-flight catering and aviation catering are built around light aircraft, and business aviation catering stays compact. Executive jet catering, diplomatic flight catering and cabin crew meals are ordered on the same call, with crew meals added on request. The FBO services and ground handling services on the field are small, so a clear brief matters more here than a long one.

Customs & food import

Rwanda controls food imports and exports at the border, and fresh meat, fish and dairy move under health rules. Cooked, sealed meals travel more easily, so we pack for that and confirm the details with your handling agent, whose ground handling services cover the customs side on the day.

“The cabin briefing at Kamembe Airport included 3 passenger meals, a request for poached fish with steamed rice, and instructions addressing a small galley worktop. The catering handover stood out more than any sales pitch about airline catering. The Galley Girls understood why we wanted the desserts readily accessible instead of spread across several different boxes. That left time to check the breakfast portions properly before the passengers were ready for the next part of the service.”

★★★★★CREW MEALS
“Several practical details needed attention at HRZA, with roasted chicken and seasonal vegetables requested for 12 guests and a tight boarding window to accommodate. The Galley Girls used a readable packing list for the breakfast portions, which helped when two colleagues checked the order together. The fruit plates were also listed clearly, which made it easier to pass instructions between crew members during preparation. I appreciated the emphasis on crew briefing throughout the crew meals arrangements.”

★★★★★LARGE CABIN
“Packing roasted vegetable bowls with separate dressings for 10 passengers at KME needed careful thought, especially given a small galley worktop. I needed the starters checked against the revised brief; The Galley Girls answered without sending us through another lengthy exchange. There was no need to reconstruct the snack boxes quantities from several messages during the final departure checks. Our brief for FBO catering was met with a sensible plan for written menu details.”

Ordering for HRZA, in shortAsked by crews
How much does private jet catering cost for a light jet at Kamembe versus a larger cabin?+

How much does private jet catering cost depends on what the cabin can hold. A small galley cannot serve a twelve-course menu, so the order shrinks and the price follows. Local Western Province produce, like brochettes and isombe, sits in the lower range, while imported cheese or fresh cuts of beef raise it.

What is the lead time for private jet catering at Kamembe in the dry or rainy season?+

Season drives departures here: the rains close the hills in cloud, and dry months open them up. Orders for HRZA are simple when you tell us the slot early, but last-minute orders are handled, including a change of plan when the weather shifts the departure. Produce like passion fruit and tilapia is steady all year.

Customs: can I order catering from Kamembe for the return leg?+

A return order from Kamembe works, with a condition: the menu has to survive two sets of rules. Cooked tilapia and brochettes pass more easily than raw fish, and everything travels sealed. We check with the handling agent so nothing is held at the door.

Can you bring food from outside for a night departure or an early morning slot at Kamembe?+

Bringing your own food is possible, and customs rules for Rwanda still apply, which is hardest at night. For an early morning slot, we hand a labelled meal to the FBO so nobody is sorting boxes in the dark. Our line is open 24/7, day and night.

Is catering part of a charter flying into Kamembe, and who gets us airside?+

Is catering part of a charter into Kamembe? It is not. You order it on its own, and it is invoiced on its own. Airside access belongs to the handling agent, and we agree the handover with them before the slot.
