Private jet catering at Skardu International Airport (OPSD / KDU), Skardu

Catering to your aircraft in Skardu.

Skardu sits at 7,316 ft in a valley ringed by the Karakoram, and departures here follow the weather and the climbing season, not the clock. We pack for that: cold plates that hold in the drawer, hot dishes that survive a delayed slot, and crew meals when you ask for them.

Three of us. All ex VIP cabin crew.

We know the galley, the diet card and the 5 a.m. re-plate — because we lived them. So we built the caterer we always wished we could call.

The local tableCooked so it travels

Inflight catering with the flavours of Skardu (KDU)

Gilgit-Baltistan has a food tradition that suits a galley better than you would expect: dried apricots, walnuts and mulberries keep well, hold their flavour at altitude and need no cooling. A private jet menu for Skardu can lean on them without apology.

The mains come from the same valley. Balti-style slow-cooked mutton and chapli-type patties travel hot with the sauce in a separate pot; a local flatbread, packed dry, re-crisps in the oven. An inflight menu built this way lets you re-plate without cooking at altitude.

For private jet food at Skardu we keep the local specialities honest and simple: apricot oil and walnut in the cold plates, green tea with cardamom or the salted pink tea from the north, and a fruit board of whatever Baltistan orchards have that season. Flavours in {Region} come from Gilgit-Baltistan itself, not from a generic regional list.

The three founders, former VIP cabin crew, on a business jet airstair — private jet catering at Skardu International Airport (OPSD)

Cloud over the Indus valley decides most days at Skardu, so a menu has to wait as well as it travels. Private jet catering at OPSD is built for that waiting: plates that hold, hot dishes with the sauce packed apart, and cabin crew meals labelled by position. For corporate and executive jet catering we adapt to the galley you actually have. Inflight catering, in-flight catering and aviation catering here also cover diplomatic flight catering for official visits to Gilgit-Baltistan, and business aviation catering for expedition and trekking charters in summer.

Special meals

Special meals and allergen free inflight catering at Skardu International Airport

At Skardu the allergen to watch is walnut, which turns up in sauces, breads and sweets across Gilgit-Baltistan, followed by apricot kernel oil and wheat flour in flatbread. Kosher, halal, vegan, gluten free, allergen free, kids meals and other special meals are packed on a separate board, sealed, with the seat number on the label. Halal is the local default; for kosher, vegan and strict allergen requests we need the details with the order.

Ground handling and FBO catering at Skardu International Airport

At OPSD, the FBO or handling agent opens the gate and the order goes airside under their escort. FBO catering, catering delivery to the general aviation terminal, ground handling catering and handling agent catering all depend on one thing: the pass is agreed before the slot.

Skardu's apron suits mid-size and large business jets, and galley catering is loaded to the type: door height, trolley or box, oven or no oven. About the airportOPSD / KDU

Aviation catering and business aviation at Skardu International Airport (KDU)

Skardu International is the main gateway to Baltistan and the staging point for the high Karakoram, with a runway at 7,316 ft and terrain that shapes every approach. Airport catering here serves general aviation, charter operators and official visits. FBO services and ground handling services on the field are modest, so the handling agent is the one contact that matters for access, fuel and anything loaded airside. Cloud, not the clock, sets the day.

Business aviation

Skardu works as a seasonal business aviation hub: the summer trekking and climbing window brings charters, and official visits can arrive in any month. Inflight catering, in-flight catering and aviation catering are planned around that rhythm, with business aviation catering, executive jet catering, diplomatic flight catering, cabin crew meals and crew meals ordered to suit the flight and held for weather delays.

Customs & food import

Pakistan treats imported food seriously: meat, dairy and fresh produce draw attention, and alcohol is restricted. For a Skardu order, local catering is easier than carrying food in, and anything brought aboard should be declared to the handling agent. The same agent coordinates FBO services and ground handling services for the airside delivery, so the declaration and the access pass are settled together.

★★★★★VIP AIRLINER
“Working around limited fridge space at Skardu International Airport, I asked for a mezze selection with flatbreads in portions appropriate for our 10 passengers. The Galley Girls used a readable packing list for the salads, which helped when two colleagues checked the order together. The main courses were also listed clearly, which made it easier to pass instructions between crew members during preparation. I would discuss private aviation catering with them again, especially when written menu details needs careful coordination.”

★★★★★LARGE CABIN
“Getting smoked salmon bagels and sliced fruit ready for 7 guests at OPSD required an order that accounted for two separate meal services. Our handling contact received the order details from The Galley Girls, including how the starters had been grouped. Knowing where the snack boxes were packed meant the crew could begin the relevant checks as soon as the order arrived. The order made business jet catering feel manageable because the crew briefing had been considered beforehand.”

★★★★★CREW MEALS
“For 2 passengers departing from KDU, the agreed menu was a seafood starter and warm vegetable sides; our main consideration was a revised passenger count. We discussed the dimensions before confirming; The Galley Girls grouped the fruit plates into sealed meal containers that were easy to handle. For business aviation catering, that attention to galley preparation made the order noticeably easier to manage. Separating the sauces from the first service items helped us avoid opening boxes we did not yet need.”

What crews ask before SkarduAsked by crews
How much does private jet catering cost for a special-meal request at Skardu?+

Cost at Skardu is set by what you order, not by the airport. A child's menu with simple rice and chicken is modest; a vegan, allergen-free tasting menu for a delegation is not. How much does private jet catering cost? It depends on seats, restrictions and menu, and we give a price once we have all three.

What is the lead time for private jet catering at Skardu?+

For a Skardu departure, the best way to keep the order easy is to send the handling agent's contact with the request. We then coordinate the airside delivery directly. Last-minute orders are handled, but a missed access pass cannot be recovered by the kitchen.

What are the customs rules for catering into Skardu?+

Customs at Skardu mean one thing for the galley: whatever you carry in must be declared, and restricted items such as alcohol or certain meats may be refused. Ordering local catering for the outbound leg avoids the question entirely.

Can you bring food on a government flight into Skardu?+

On a delegation or government flight into Skardu you can carry your own food, but it must be declared and may be inspected; protocol offices often prefer a menu cleared in advance. We can cook to a cleared menu locally, which saves the party from a customs stop.

Is catering part of a charter into Skardu?+

Charter contracts do not include catering at OPSD. You order it, we deliver to the aircraft, and we invoice it as its own line. A night departure makes this more important, since the plane-side hand-over has to match the handler's hours.
