Catering to your aircraft in Windhoek.

Windhoek sits on a plateau at 5,640 feet, and the Khomas Region air is dry enough to dull a salad by the time the door closes. We pack for that, for the safari lodge runs and the long legs south, and last-minute orders are handled.

Three of us. All ex VIP cabin crew.

We know the galley, the diet card and the 5 a.m. re-plate — because we lived them. So we built the caterer we always wished we could call.

Local specialities from Windhoek for your inflight catering

Namibian food is game first. Kudu, springbok and oryx are the red meats you will see on a Windhoek private jet menu, and they travel better than most beef: lean, dense, and forgiving of a reheat. Kudu loin is sliced cold and sealed in its own tray; oryx fillet goes in as a roast to be carved by the passenger, with the jus in a separate pot. For a private jet menu out of FYWH that is the dish people ask about.

Biltong and droëwors are local specialities that double as private jet snacks and as inflight menu staples for the crew: a vacuum bag, no refrigeration, no mess. Oysters from Walvis Bay are the seafood that surprises people at this altitude; they are shucked late, chilled in sealed trays, and kept clear of the hot items. Private jet food from the Khomas Region also means Kalahari truffle in season and sweet Namibian dates from the south.

The dessert is usually apple strudel or a melktert, both shaped by the German colonial kitchen that still defines Windhoek. Both hold in a drawer and need no oven. That mix of game, coast and baker is what we mean by local specialities in the Khomas Region: dishes with a reason to be on the plate, packed so the galley you actually have can plate them.

The three founders, former VIP cabin crew, on a business jet airstair — private jet catering at Hosea Kutako International Airport (FYWH)

Hosea Kutako sits at 5,640 feet, which is why the cabin at FYWH dries out and cold plates wilt faster than they do at sea level. Private jet catering here is built around that: sturdy game, firm greens, sealed fruit. Our inflight catering team, former VIP flight attendants, writes in-flight catering and aviation catering for Windhoek with business aviation catering, executive jet catering, diplomatic flight catering and cabin crew meals in the same order, one galley at a time.

Business aviationOur core

VIP flight and private jet catering at Hosea Kutako International Airport (FYWH)

Business jet catering at Windhoek is built around who is flying: mining executives to the coast, safari guests to Etosha, charter flight catering for groups heading north. Corporate jet catering for those flights favours game and Namibian cheese over delicate plates, and VIP flight catering adds the oysters. Luxury inflight catering needs a private jet chef who understands the galley and writes a bespoke menu to match it.

Government flight and VIP aviation catering at Hosea Kutako International Airport

Government flight catering at Hosea Kutako follows protocol before it follows taste. Head of state flight catering for a Windhoek arrival is cleared by the protocol office, cooked by a named team and sealed. VIP aviation catering needs discretion; state visit aircraft catering needs a full manifest of ingredients. Every tray is traceable.

Halal, kosher and kids meals: inflight catering at Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH)

At Windhoek the diet card travels with the seat plan: every tray is marked by seat number and restriction, and the passenger who needs kosher or halal food receives a sealed tray. Special meals in this kitchen means separate boards and a separate box, and allergen free work starts with Namibian habits, where peanut oil and wheat flour appear in more sauces than you would guess. Vegan and gluten free menus are built from vegetables, grains and dates, and kids meals stay plain.

Crew & pilot mealsOn request

Pilot meals and crew meals at Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH)

Crew meals at Hosea Kutako are a catalogue item, ordered and invoiced with the rest. On the Windhoek plateau a crew that has flown overnight needs flight crew meals they can eat with one hand: a lamb wrap, a biltong salad, a hot rice dish in a sealed tray. Pilot meals come as crew meal boxes labelled CREW, and for cockpit meals we build different meals for pilots when the operator asks, so captain and first officer never share a dish. Crew catering at FYWH also means water, coffee and something sweet to carry onto the ramp.

FBO catering at Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH): delivery to your aircraft

Windhoek has FBO catering for the general aviation terminal, and catering delivery to the FBO is arranged with your handling agent. Ground handling catering is timed to the slot; handling agent catering means the truck arrives with paperwork ready. Weather on the ramp can shift a cart, so we pack lids tight.

Aircraft provisioning and airport catering at Hosea Kutako International Airport (FYWH)

About the airportFYWH / WDH

About Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH): airport catering for business aviation

Hosea Kutako International is the main gateway to Namibia, set on the Khomas plateau east of Windhoek. Airport catering here serves general aviation, charter and diplomatic traffic, and FBO services on the ramp are the usual point of handover. Ground handling services are arranged around the aircraft type and the slot, so the order follows what the apron can actually take.

Business aviation

Windhoek works as a business aviation hub for the safari and mining trades. Inflight catering and in-flight catering for lodge flights lean on sealed cold boxes; aviation catering for onward legs to Johannesburg and beyond leans on hot plates. Business aviation catering, executive jet catering and diplomatic flight catering all run from the same kitchen, and cabin crew meals and crew meals are packed apart from the guest trays. Ground handling services stay with your handling agent, and FBO services at the terminal confirm the slot. Peak season is the dry winter, May to October.

Customs & food import

Namibia guards its cattle and game industries, so animal products entering from abroad are checked hard: raw meat, dairy and fresh plants can be seized at customs. Cooked, sealed catering generally passes, and the list is verified through ground handling services before the truck reaches the apron. FBO services at the terminal can tell you what the officer on shift will want to see on the paperwork.

★★★★★LIGHT JET
“Between cabin checks at FYWH, I coordinated mushroom risotto and a green salad for 6 guests and explained our concerns about a late menu amendment. I asked The Galley Girls for the snack boxes in stackable containers, with garnishes supplied separately for plating on board. The breakfast portions stayed together in one group, so another crew member could follow the same plating sequence. I want a private jet catering company to understand written menu details, and this order gave us a useful starting point.”

★★★★★BUSINESS JET
“Small packing details became important at WDH: our 8 passengers wanted vegetarian wraps and colourful salads, and we had different crew meal preferences. I needed the crew provisions checked against the revised brief; The Galley Girls answered without sending us through another lengthy exchange. We checked the sandwiches against the same summary, keeping the cabin team and the handling contact aligned. When comparing private jet catering companies, I would look closely at meal organisation after this experience.”

★★★★★ROYAL FLIGHT
“Before our guests boarded at Hosea Kutako International Airport, we needed a seafood starter and warm vegetable sides divided into 12 portions suitable for a tight boarding window. The Galley Girls labelled the sauces in line with our brief, so the cabin team could identify the relevant portions quickly. My search for "private jet catering near me" led to a practical conversation about galley preparation. The canapés were also listed clearly, which made it easier to pass instructions between crew members during preparation.”

Windhoek in five questionsAsked by crews
How much does private jet catering cost for a Windhoek departure on a small or large aircraft?+

A light jet with a single drawer and a small oven gets a short cold menu; a large cabin with a full galley can carry kudu, oysters and strudel in courses. The price is set by what the galley can finish and serve, so kudu loin for two costs less than a four-course oryx dinner for ten. Send the type and the seat plan and we quote the menu we agree.

What is the lead time for an early morning slot at WDH?+

Dawn departures from Hosea Kutako are common for lodge runs, so the trays are cooked the evening before and sealed cold, with the reheat marked for the crew. Give us the tail, the slot and the headcount and we plan from there. Last-minute orders are handled, with a simpler menu.

Are there customs rules for a long leg with two services on board?+

For a long sector out of Windhoek we pack the second service in its own sealed box. Customs in Namibia are strict on raw meat, unpasteurised dairy and fresh plants, so what is not eaten before arrival can be kept or discarded cleanly. Cooked and labelled trays pass without trouble in most cases.

Can you bring food from home for a kosher, halal, vegan or child passenger?+

You can, and the cabin accepts it, but for a kosher, halal, vegan or allergen request it is cleaner to let us pack it: a separate board, a separate sealed box, the seat number on the lid. Kids meals are plain and easy to reheat. Home food stays apart from the catered trays.

Is catering part of a charter into Windhoek?+

No. A charter price covers the aircraft and the crew, not the food. Catering is ordered separately and invoiced on its own, usually triggered by a local product guests ask for by name, such as kudu or Namibian cheese. Send the tail and the slot and we deliver to the aircraft.
