Three of us. All ex VIP cabin crew.

We know the galley, the diet card and the 5 a.m. re-plate — because we lived them. So we built the caterer we always wished we could call.

Regional dishes of Azezo for jet catering at GDQ

For Gondar, private jet food starts with what the Amhara Region actually eats on fasting days: shiro, misir wat, gomen and atakilt wat, all vegan by tradition and all tolerant of reheating. That makes the private jet menu easy for plant-based guests and for religious calendars. Local specialities for non-fasting days include doro wat and tibs. We pack injera in a lidded box so it stays pliable, and keep each stew in its own container. The inflight menu for HAGN is deliberately short, because fewer dishes means fewer things to find in a small galley.

Azezo sits on a plateau where evenings cool quickly, and the cabin menu we write for Gondar Airport reflects that: warm stews, bread, and honey from the surrounding Amhara Region, including tej-style honey wine only when the guest requests it and the operator allows alcohol. Private jet platters carry cheeses, cold cuts and cut fruit for travellers who want something lighter. Gourmet inflight meals are plated with local specialities in mind, and private jet snacks keep to nuts, kolo and dried fruit. Every private jet food item is labelled by seat.

The three founders, former VIP cabin crew, on a business jet airstair — private jet catering at Gondar Airport (HAGN)

Gondar Airport stands at 6,449 feet above sea level, on the plateau at Azezo in the Amhara Region, and that altitude shapes how a galley is stocked. We provide private jet catering for HAGN, written by former VIP flight attendants: inflight catering that survives a cool highland ramp, in-flight catering packed per seat, and aviation catering handed to your handling agent or at the aircraft. Business aviation catering for GDQ covers executive jet catering for visiting delegations and diplomatic flight catering for official parties, with cabin crew meals ordered alongside the passenger menu.

VIP flight and private jet catering at Gondar Airport (HAGN)

A typical business jet brief at Gondar is four to eight guests on a heritage or highland tour, flown in by a corporate or charter operator. Business jet catering and corporate jet catering here are planned around a small galley: VIP flight catering built from platters, a few hot dishes and sauces in their own pots. Charter flight catering is the same discipline with a shorter brief. Luxury inflight catering at HAGN is quiet rather than elaborate, and a private jet chef writes a bespoke menu around local ingredients when the party asks for it.

Diplomatic and state visit aviation catering in Azezo (HAGN)

When an official party arrives at Azezo, the first question is who signs for the food. Government flight catering is planned with that answer in hand; head of state flight catering and VIP aviation catering keep the team small and named. State visit aircraft catering at Gondar Airport is handed over under the supervision of your handling agent.

Special meals

Dietary requirements and aviation catering at Gondar Airport (HAGN)

Gondar's kitchen is unusually good for special meals because fasting days mean vegan and plant-based cooking is the norm: shiro, misir wat and gomen need no adaptation. For vegan, kosher, halal, gluten free, allergen free and kids meals, the harder part is cross-contact. Injera is often made with teff alone, but mixed flours are common, so gluten free guests are given a confirmed teff-only batch and a separate container. Kosher and halal meals are sealed in their own packaging and carry seat labels only. Tell us the restriction and the seat, and the dish is cooked and packed around it.

Crew meals & pilot meals at Gondar Airport

Crew meals at Gondar are a request, not a default, and we invoice them like any other line. Flight crew meals and pilot meals are packed for a turnaround on a quiet ramp, crew catering for a rotation that does not return to a hotel, and cockpit meals are made to be eaten with one hand. Crew meal boxes are labelled CREW and kept apart from the passenger trays at HAGN. For different meals for pilots, we cook two dishes so captain and first officer do not share. Cabin crew meals are ordered with the passenger menu.

FBO catering and handling agent delivery at Gondar Airport

The general aviation terminal at Azezo is small, and FBO catering usually means a short walk to the aircraft. We arrange catering delivery to the FBO, coordinate ground handling catering with your agent, and pass handling agent catering details through the same contact.

High loader and aircraft provisioning: aviation catering at Gondar Airport

Gondar Airport handles smaller business jets and turboprops far more often than large aircraft, so galley catering here is planned for the cabin you actually have. For a larger type we agree airside catering delivery with your handling agent, including whether a high loader is needed or the cart goes up the stairs. Aircraft provisioning is packed in stackable containers, so crew can load a short-legged galley without a platform. Tell us the type and where the galley sits, and we pack to its door.

About the airportHAGN / GDQ

About Gondar Airport (GDQ): airport catering for business aviation

HAGN at Azezo is the airport for Gondar, the historic capital of the Amhara Region. General aviation here is light, and FBO services and ground handling services are arranged around the aircraft on the day. Airport catering is ordered in advance and delivered to the apron.

Business aviation

Azezo is a quiet business aviation hub, with traffic that peaks around Timkat and the dry season. Inflight catering and in-flight catering for HAGN are planned seasonally, aviation catering covers the ground wait, and business aviation catering suits repeat operators. Executive jet catering suits private parties, diplomatic flight catering suits official visits, and cabin crew meals are listed apart.

Customs & food import

Ethiopia regulates imported food, and officers may inspect sealed meals on arrival. For Gondar we cook in-country where possible, label every container, and keep the paperwork with the order. Ask the handling agent which declaration the aircraft needs.

“An order of yoghurt pots and fresh berries for 9 people at GDQ had to be organised around a changing departure schedule. The Galley Girls talked through the quantities of main courses with us before confirmation, rather than leaving us to guess the portions. It was useful to see the snack boxes listed separately when checking how much space the complete order would require. For flight catering services, that attention to galley preparation made the order noticeably easier to manage.”

★★★★★BUSINESS JET
“Getting a selection of petits fours and sandwiches ready for 10 guests at Gondar Airport required an order that accounted for two separate meal services. We described our serving sequence to The Galley Girls and asked for the main courses to be packed accordingly. That left time to check the fruit plates properly before the passengers were ready for the next part of the service. My main takeaway from this airline catering order was the practical approach to galley preparation.”

★★★★★ROYAL FLIGHT
“Good preparation made the difference at HAGN, where 10 guests expected herb chicken with a quinoa salad despite a changing departure schedule. We discussed the dimensions before confirming; The Galley Girls grouped the side dishes into shallow trays that were easy to handle. For crew meals, that attention to catering handover made the order noticeably easier to manage. I could hand the fruit plates to a colleague with a short explanation instead of unpacking the whole order.”

Azezo in five questionsAsked by crews
How much does private jet catering cost when the passenger count changes at the last minute?+

Start from what you will actually serve. If six board instead of four at GDQ, we add portions of whatever scales, usually platters and stews, and keep hot courses to the seats that want them. Cost follows that edited list, and last-minute adjustments are processed like any other change.

What is the lead time for a delegation or government flight into Gondar?+

Diplomatic parties often fly in with a short notice of their own. We hold a small base menu for Gondar that suits most delegations, so a late request is not a problem. Last-minute orders are handled.

Does customs affect a special-meal request into Ethiopia?+

Bring a medically required meal and keep the paperwork with it; customs in Ethiopia may still ask. For anything else at GDQ, let us cook locally and avoid the question.

Can you bring food on board for crew who wait on the ground at Gondar?+

Personal food is fine on a private aircraft at HAGN, but customs may want to see it. A crew meal box cooked in-country avoids the question, and we mark it CREW so nobody opens a passenger tray.

Is catering part of a charter into Gondar?+

It is not part of the charter, so the food is ordered on its own. At GDQ a long turnaround lets us bring a hot course; a short one is better served with platters.
